European Law Moot Court Competition
The European Law Moot Court Competition has existed since 1988 and concerns EU law; every year a new case with new problems is revealed by the European Law Moot Society (ELMC) within a certain area of the EU-law.
A wide number of teams apply for participating in the European Law Moot Court Competition and therefore a selection procedure takes place in which The European Law Moot Court Society selects 40 teams that will participate in the regional rounds. This selection procedure is based on the submitted written memorials. The regional rounds take place in four different places in Europe or USA where 10 teams each place are competing against each other. The winning team of each of the four regional rounds will pass on to the final round which takes place in The European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg. The bench will here consist of judges from The European Court of Justice. The European Law Moot Court Competition is sponsored by the EU Commission and a number of European law firms which also use the moot court to recruit staff.
Please note, that you must be able to speak and understand basic French as part of the oral procedures may be in French. The Law Faculty provides an intensive course in French for the EU moot court participants, however this will not be sufficient in itself.
Funther information can be found on the moot's course page.
